Budapest Open Access Initiative: BOAI Forum Archive [BOAI] [Forum Home] [index] [prev] [next] [options] [help]boaiforum messagesRe: [BOAI] PLoS ONE: A Post-Publication-Peer-Reviewed-Open-Access-E-JournalFrom: Luis Ibanez <luis.ibanez AT kitware.com>
Gerry,
In your email you mentioned that you are interested in learning about
other Post-Publication Peer-Reviewed Open Access E-Journals.
You may be interested in looking at the "Insight Journal":
http://www.insight-journal.org/
This is an electronic journal for the medical image analysis community.
The home of the journal navigation is at:
http://www.insight-journal.org/InsightJournalManager/index.php
The community served by this Journal is mainly focused on developing
software for medical image applications. As such, most of the papers
submissions are susceptible of "automatic testing", if they are ↵
posted
in a format that includes the source code of the software they used,
their input and output images, and the parameters used for executing
their code.
One of the main focus of this journal is to empower readers to perform
verification of reproducibility by asking authors to post along with
their papers *all* the material that is required for reproducing the
work that is described in the paper. In this way, serious peer-review
can actually be performed, instead of being limited to the decadent
practice of most journals where only "opinions" from the reviewers
are considered to be an acceptable peer-review.
Publication is automatic in the Insight Journal, and then papers are
made available for public (anonymous and non-anonymous) peer-review
online.
See for example:
http://www.insight-journal.org/InsightJournalManager/view_reviews.php?back=search.php%3Ftexte%3DITK&journalid=3&pubid=45
The source code from papers with high ratings are then considered for
inclusion in to the NIH National Library of Medicine, Image Segmentation
and Registration Toolkit (ITK) [www.itk.org].
We will be happy to give you more information about this Journal
if you are interested.
Best Regards,
Luis
